Events during Safer Internet Week

This year, the Safer Internet Day will be held on 7 February 2012 and the entire week 6 in February is the Safer Internet Week. The objective of the Safer Internet Day and Week is to promote the safe and smart use of the internet. This year's main theme is to bring generations together: Discover the digital world together...safely!

Monday, 6 February

The Safer Internet Week is launched in a familiar way by a seminar attended by invited guests. The main theme of the seminar is 'Connecting Generations'. The seminar will be opened by Asta Sihvonen-Punkka, FICORA's Director-General. In addition, there will be a speech by Leo Pekkala, Director of the Finnish Centre for Media Education and Audiovisual Media, and an interesting panel discussion on the future visions of the generation that was born to using the internet.

Tuesday 7 February Safer Internet Day

Events in schools around Finland as part the Safer Internet Day.

The Turku University of Applied Sciences will arrange an open and cost-free seminar on the information security of small and medium-sized companies. The seminar will be held at the Lemminkäisenkatu premises of the Turku University of Applied Sciences at 12-17. Additional information and registration: www.tietoturvapaiva.fi.

Wednesday, 8 February

An information security event at the Finlandia Hall in Helsinki. Organised with the cooperation of Cisco, F-Secure and TeliaSonera Finland for experts and directors within the information security branch, the seminar is part of the Safer Internet Week. Read more at www.tietoturvatapahtuma.fi.

Thursday, 9 February

The Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority (FICORA), the Finnish Society on Media Education, the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare and the Finnish Centre for Media Education and Audiovisual Media will arrange a seminar aimed at parents of 6-12 year-olds. The seminar will be held at the Valkoinen sali (White Hall) in Helsinki (Aleksanterinkatu 16-18) at 17-19.30. Everyone is welcome and there is no cost for participation.
