Data system break-ins and data thefts

A data system break-in means unauthorised use of a computer through a telecommunications connection.

Malware or a hacker breaking in to a system may gain access to an unprotected computer and install a backdoor. The backdoor forms a connection through which the computer may be used from another computer without the user noticing it.

A firewall and operating system updates are the best ways of protecting your computer from system break-ins.

You should also make sure that your computer cannot be accessed without a username and a password. A good password is sufficiently long, includes upper case and lower case letters as well as special characters and numbers. The password should also be changed regularly.
