Virtual communities

When you participate in discussions in virtual communities, or online communities, on the Internet (such as discussion forums, Facebook or the IRC-Galleria community) remember that on the Internet anyone can be anyone. You should keep that in mind also when you arrange meetings or do business online.

Do not reveal more about yourself than is necessary. Consider particularly carefully before giving out your name, phone number, home address or e-mail address on the Internet. It is possible that you may never be able to remove text and photographs shared on the Internet.

Nicknames are used on many discussion forums, and the true identity is revealed only to the website administrator.

People who disturb or insult others may be tracked down later, even if the discussion is anonymous. In problem or abuse situations, contact the website administrator. The administrator has a right to remove harmful and inappropriate messages from the website.
